This review is being written for Prestige glass top stove, model no GT 03l ALI. Its a 3 burner glass top model. The looks are good and it costed around Rs.5900. We had booked it from jayanagar 4th block, bangalore prestige showroom on 22nd April 2012. Since the model was not available, they said it will deliver it once it arrives. The person got the stove after a week. We were very happy using it.
We used it for one week. One night at around 3 am, all of a sudden the glass started making the crackling noise. Suddenly When we woke up and checked, we found that the glass on top of the stove is cracking continuously and its making continuous sounds like’tak tak’. Nothing can fall on the glass top as we dont have anything on top of it. Also since it has broken in the mid night, we thought that it might be a defective piece and will talk to the store from where we bought this product in the morning.
When we talked to the store person in the morning time, he said that we have done something to the glass. We were shocked with this. When we checked with the service center which is in the lalbagh road, and asked for the replacement, the in-charge person named rahul claimed that the prestige products can never be defective. He said that they don’t give any guarantee on glass. We felt so sad because it was just 1 week old and we knew that it was not our mistake. We tried to convince him that, but he kept on telling us that the prestige products are 100% accurate and there cannot be any defect in their products. We kept on requesting him that there are chances that there can be defective products say 1 in 100 and this can be that piece, so please atleast have a look at it once and check. But he said that its our mistake that the glass is broken and asked for Rs.1500 to replace it with new one.
Bottom line is don’t fall for looks. No doubt, it looks so good in your kitchen, but the glass on the gas is not reliable. The older days 2 burner steel gas stove, say even the local company ones are much reliable than prestige. My suggestion is not to go for the glass top, that too particularly prestige. I bought it and I repented. Pure waste of money.
