Truly a classic

Well, let me begin by telling you that this book inspired me to attempt writing a novel - and I was pretty pleased with the result. But now, for the life of me, I can’t find it.

I was first introduced to this book through the Hindi serial - Trishna - a visual treat and very well-adapted. What is striking that, such a middle class English society novel is such a fit for the Indian milieu even today. That is the greatness of this novel. When I read it, I could relate to or at least identify people types in almost all the characters. The style is witty and doesn’t falter even once.

Each character is vividly presented and each sub-plot is beautifully woven in. Not for a minute will you feel anything being useless or redundant.

Well, read it without a delay.
