Punjabi bhangra star Sukhbir is ready to release his latest album ’Flying High’. NDTV catches up with Sukhbir on the sets of his new video that is being shot in Mumbai.
Ever since the release of his first album ’New Style’ in 1995, Sukhbir has always been someone who has stood out from the crowd. The Dubai based singer who has had four releases till now is on his way to his latest video and even thought the song is typically Sukhbir--with lots of dance music. The video promises to show him in a new avtaar.
Sukhbir gave his opinion on this video, ’’It’s a dance video and I’m playing this really cool dude along with some hip dancers and the difference in this video is that I am doing a lot of dance steps. Normally, I have this cool look with a few dance movements but in this video we have tried to choreograph me for a change.’’
Having started his music career from London, Sukhbir’s music has always had the influence of many sounds. His previous album ’Prince of Bhangra’ had mixed Arabic music with bhangra pop; and in the current album the singer has tried to mix African beats with his traditional dance music.
Sukhbir tried to differentiate his music, ’’It’s not typical Punjabi music that I have. I love experimenting with different styles. The most recent being the African style. After living in Dubai, I am getting influenced by the Arabic style as well. I have experimented and I think it fits very well with Punjabi bhangra music.’’
The one constant factor in Sukhbir’s videos is his dress code--black attire and black sunglasse--a style that is there in his latest video too.
