Provoked is based on a real life incident, There can be two women quiet and powerful.This movie talks about the powerful.
*Story:
Kiranjit Ahluwalia[Aish] is a simple, traditional, full of customs kind of girl from Punjab, India. She is married to a NRI guy named Deepak[Naveen Andrews]. After there marriage Kiranjit becomes a regular bait for her husband’s beating, ras and other kind of violence. Ten years pass in the same conditions, they do not improve at all. One night after getting her and her two children severly beaten by her husband, She loses her temper and sets Deepak on fire, to murder him.She is arrested and jailed. Her case is lost , But a prisoner[Miranda] [Of the same prison] comes to rescue her with the help of her brother. Mean while, A group of South Asian Social workers of UK and Southhall Black workers lead by Radha[Nandita Das] help her out too. After a long ardous struggle shes left after 3 years of complete sentence.

Direction: **Provoked may sound new and pleasing to ears but is the same as all the women awakening movies made in bollywood today. Jagmohan Mundra does not take the talk seriously enough to make it impactful. The editing of movie is quite well, but it wont be easiely understood by the masses, as it has a same past, present colour differentiation kinda editing.[The one almost like RDB]. The light effects used are good, But cinemetography is just okay.
Acting: Aishwarya Rai performs well this time. Her acting in the starting sequences like her first meeting, tries to rescue herself etc. are worth praising. Nandita Das acts fine. Miranda, Naveen, Robbie perform well too.
Positives: The movie is short. Background score by Rahman is competent, Sepia background running through out is wonderful. Editing is fine and last but not the least performances are good.
Negatives: The movie may be small but it is very very slow. Dialogues are good but they are not impactful when said by there respective characters. The hospital and prison sequences are very unintersting and of the track. Music is not good only the last track[playing in end credits] is fine.
Overall^. The movie lacks entertainment as well as a thought factor through out the movie. The movie will be liked by only Aish Fans.and otherwise there is nothing new in the store.In a Word "BELOW AVG"
