A Fantastic Resort- On the Banks of the Ganges...

Punyalaksmi is located in Diamond Harbour. One can reach there in 2 hours by driving from Kolkata. Local trains can also be availed to reach there.

Although the resort is very near to Diamond Harbour railway station but you will get a complete different feel once you enter it. It is built just at the edge of the river Ganges. A wide stretch of the river can be seen from this resort.

They have a very nice swimming pool which is well maintained. I can guarantee that in warm weather you would love to spend maximum time of the day in this pool. Although at night I think they do not encourage taking a dip which I found not quite attractive.

The lawn is big enough and kept clean. Kids can play around and we can stretch ourselves under the open sky. They also have slides and swings for the kids.

The restaurant too serves good food which might seem a little overpriced. Well, you have to keep in mind that it is a resort. I think the price is quite reasonable.

The price of accommodation starts from Rs. 999/- and can climb upto Rs. 6000/- depending upon your choice of stay. The lower priced rooms are in a building and the size of rooms are smaller but otherwise fine. The more the price the bigger the size of the rooms. The finest cottages are priced at around Rs . 6500/-. These cottages have personal swimming pools. All the rooms are decent. For updated tariffs please refer to their webpage or their booking office at Hazra. It might have increased since we last visited.

Although this is a weekend destination I will say that the best days of visiting this wonderful resort is weekdays. In weekends or continuous holidays it remains fully packed. The staffs were bewildered by the requests and order pressures of the guests. Your food might be delayed. The pool remains fully occupied. You need to get pretty boozed out to jump in the crowded pool. But the staffs are very cooperative otherwise.

Also you might have to park your car outside during packed days due to their limited parking capacity.

Finally I would like to say that you will not regret a couple of night stay in this fine resort with friends or family.
