I have been using pureit for more than 2.5 Years. I take good care of it and I am not sure whether it does the same or not. Atleast my mind is at peace that I am drinking pure water.
Some known problems which I have encountered are:
Problem 1: Pure it battery is nothing but plastic container filled with chlorine powder. Calling it a battery itself is confusing . Second on long term God knows what kind of problems that are going to surface for using excessive chlorine!! . Adults may be less prone but what about children.
Problem 2: black particles in the middle chamber which comes from it’s carbon trap from above. Its not a harmful thing but still it speaks a lot about there design.
Problem 3: Encountered many red ants in the device (bottom transparent chamber ) and they were even coming out of the device along with the water. When complained to Pureit about this, strangely they said that it is a known issue and they cannot fix it. I feel that the powder in the battery attracts red ants then they eventually die. Also I have observed that there is a gap between the middle section (where the battery is attached ) and bottom section (transparent section ) . There is a strong possibility of germs , debris and ants entering . This is a design flaw and it has been verified by me with many other filters.
Problem 4: Around six months back the base of the filter cracked and water started leaking. This inspite of the fact that the filter is always kept in the same level surface and same place and never moved about as a whole except for the occasional cleaning. It was strange but I guess it could have been a one of case.
The only positive thing about pureit is it cost ( Rs 2000/-) and after sales service (very prompt)..
