Decent product, greedy company

I have been pretty happy with the quality of water & the value for money aspect of Pureit. However, my recent experience with the call centre has left a very bitter taste in the mouth. Recently the unit started leaking water. On calling the call centre.

I was asked to check if the battery indicator was showing red, which it was. The call centre operator then informed me that this was due to premature expiry of the battery(which had been replaced only in April). Imagine my surprise when the service guy lands up at my place & announces that he has an order for a new battery. When I called the call centre, the record of my original complaint had mysteriously disappeared. All they had on their record was of an order for a new battery, that I had never placed.

The call centre operation had no option of speaking with a supervisor or a company person, so I am currently stuck. I did go to the snazzy website and write to Unilever, but 2 days later, there is no sign of any response. It looks like this Rs.20, 000 crore+ behemoth of a company doesn’t want to acknowledge any defect in its product, & instead is looking at forcing consumers like me to buy a new battery instead of replacing the defective one. Compared to other companies who seem to take consumer complaints seriously(look at how Eureka Forbes has resolved consumer complaints registered on Mouthshut), Unilever doesn’t seem to give a damn.I guess I will have to shift to another brand.
