Whatever it is, that girl put me in a Purple Haze!

I’ve just come back from my trip to Bombay - 3 years in Bangalore and I feel more at home here than in Bombay. Rock culture here seems to be impressive than ever before. I must say its growing with the city. Purple Haze is promoting - just that. The second outlet in Koramangala seems to be equally impressive - what a great Hard Rock Culture they have there!

I love the one in Residency Road too. The one here near my home is located right opp. JNC opp the lane near Paramount Hotel. Not too far from the lively surroundings of Koramangala - this place has a silent vibe from outside that contradicts the decibels inside. The Pub has brilliant decor and smartly put-up LCD screens. There’s much to munch (starters) on a plate of your choice. I recommend the Chicken Tikka with Corn (150 bucks) and chicken Manchurian dry (100 bucks). Beer Pint would cost you 90 bucks and a Pitcher would cost 250 bucks. Hard drinks - Whiskey, Vodka and White Rum are priced at around 85 bucks for 30 ml, the mocktails aren’t all that good for 100 bucks the cocktails start from 180 bucks depending on what you like. If you are looking for good vegetarian meal or Hyderabadi biryani, please excuse such places. Secondly its India so don’t expect Bang & Olufsen sound systems with Bose satellite woofers all over.

If you are a serious Rock Music lover, then this is the right place for you. Purple haze has been playing some good heavy numbers for a couple of years now. The last time we went there we heard Rammstein, RHCP, RATM, Korn, Anthrax, Tool and Iron Maiden. This time they played Rammstein, Oasis, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Green Day and Led Zep. Purple Haze has an amazing collection of videos (almost comparable to my rock DVD collection).

The ambiance is GOOD. The lights complement the music. The DJ mixes the lights pretty well to match the tracks. To my pleasure it was really dark in some sections. This was a special feature. Try and catch the Weekend Specials if you can - they are out of this world! I got sloshed out as you see in the pic. I managed to have few grilled starters with 8 glasses of Beer and one shot of Vodka.

As some great mind once said - "Beer is not a good cocktail-party drink, especially in a place where you don’t know how good the LOO is."

Luckily this place is pretty neat & well maintained. The staff does pay attention. However you know its not so easy on weekends. Its a good place to be with your friends. Family - well you know them don’t you?
