Let me start with the online booking.
1) Website - Just atrocious. If they actually are paying any vendor to maintain the website then cinemax must immediately FIRE them. Extremely horrid design. And yes, as if the ad’s in the theater are not enough the cinemax folks want to mint in extra money by creating the website with heavy dosage of ad’s to serve everytime to you, if you had the misfortune of clicking some seemingly innocent box. Simply annoying. I would better pay that extra convenence fees and buy Cinemax tickets from other sites like bookmyshow etc.
2) After you get the tickets and go to the theatre, you must get the tickets printed. There is only one machine and you guessed it right, it works only if you had said your morning prayers correct. And you will come to know about it only after you stand in a big queue and face it.
3) Ok so now you need the tickets, hence you have to go to the box office windows. Yes, queue again. The Queue itself is funny because people from all sorts of directions and corners just barge in. The security is namesake and absolutely no one has a queue or crowd control.
4) For a 3-D movie, if you booked online you first get the printout from the machine(if it works) and then go and stand in another queue for the 3-D glasses. You absolutely do not feel like watching the movie after this. They seem to have fixed this issue now and hence props to them.
5) Post security screening, there are vultures to pounce on you with a form and a pen to seduce you for some free offers on things that you don’t want. And they literally pounce on you. I always pretend to get a phone call and walk past them in an extreme hurry;-) Childish, but it works.
6) Inside the theater as the previous reviewers mentioned, Cinemax gives you value for money by showing you lots and lots and lots of ad’s! And Lots more in the interval too!
7) So you have taken your kids for a family friendly 3d Cartoon movie? Now prepare yourself and tell your kids to sleep or close their eyes tightly for trailers of all adult movies that are going to start. Cinemax doesn’t care if the trailers have suggestive nudity and sex, as long as they earn more and more money. They pretend to be strict on adult movies but allow free adult content to pass in for kids movies? WTF! Maybe its OK for other parents but call me orthodox or whatever, it just doesn’t suite my taste to watch such stuff with my young kids. Period. Lesson learned, no more taking kids for any movies at Cinemax.
And I can go on, but would I? No thanks, this is enough for me. I want to have fun with my family at movies and not a scary wild adventure at Cinemax. The only pro is that the theater is just an option to watch movies. So tomorrow they are the only one who is playing my favourite movie and no other theatre is, then and only then I will visit them.
For other times, thankfully there are much better and sophisticated places at Hyderabad.
