Recently I’ve started watching a lot more movies than I used to, because of this wonderful offer from PVR Cinemas on Visa Platinum credit cards. If you have a Visa Platinum card, you can get one free ticket on every ticket you buy. So you basically get two tickets for the price of one!
This offer was earlier valid till March 31, 2009 but has now been extended to Sept 31, and I’m very happy about it! I am watching at least one movie there every week on an average.
The ambience in PVR Bangalore is quite good. The staff too are ok. The food items, however, need to be improved. There’s hardly any variety and some of them accept only cash. No credit cards, no food coupons(Sodexo, Ticket Restaurant, etc.). And plus the food is expensive!
The variety is still ok in Classic Cinemas but in Cinema Europa it’s terrible. The only decent thing is Pepsi and popcorn.
Inside the theatre, the ambience is very good. Seats are excellent, sound and picture is awesome, and the acoustics are great! Only thing that needs improvement are the floor lights on the aisle stairs. Most of them are not working and because of that it’s difficult to see the steps and the row numbers in the dark.
Another request to them is to set up more automated ticket vending machines.
Earlier, the PVR website( http://www.pvrcinemas.com) used to very troublesome. It used to go down every now and then, like the IRCTC website in the initial days. And while booking tickets online using credit cards, there used to be issues sometimes(payment deducted but ticket not issued). But recently they have revamped their site completely and now it’s pretty ok.
Still, they seem to have tested their site only on Internet Explorer, because on Firefox browser there are issues sometimes which are not seen on IE. So I use Firefox with IE Tab add-on while browsing this site to avoid issues.
Another thing is that on most of the pages, there is no option for members to log out. To book a ticket, you need to login, but then to log out you need to go to the Members’ Zone page and then log out.
All in all, I’m satisfied with them. Who wouldn’t be when you were getting free tickets!
