I am an avid movie goer and love to watch movies on the big screen. I am a regular to the PVR theater in Bangalore. Overall, I love PVR for its facility, interiors and spacious. However, based on my experience, I see that most multiplex cheat people ( atleast Inox and PVR in Bangalore do so).
They cheat us in the following way:
1) Tickets never reveal if the movie will be screened in 70 MM or 35 MM screens- Although screen nos are printed, we have no idea if its a 35 MM or 70 MM. Thus, we miss out on watching big screen movies on the small 35 MM screen without being aware. Imagine watching a big ticket movie like "I am legend" on 35 MM screen (I did!)
2) If ticket sales of one movie is doing exceedingly well and the other poor sales, they intentially display "House Full" for the well-doing movie- Thus pushing viewers to pick tickets of the other movie. Thus, bad movies too get business. Also, they have high margings in revenue sharing with the production houses of such movies.
(3) Best seats (last rows) are reserved for Home delivery- Yes, home delivery is a source of extra revenue for them as you need to pay more (delivery charges). These seats are blocked till the very end and, released at the last moment (5-10 minutes before show). Hence, if you are the luck guy who gets the tickets at the last moment, remember you would be getting the last rows.
Although multiplexes might justify my statements as marketing strategies, I, as a customer would expect them to be more transparent.
Cheers
