How Important is ‘looks’ in deciding your life partner? Sticking with the love you believe in, even if you feel it impossible…is it really possible??
‘Pyaar Impossible’ creates two characters first. One – Talented but shy guy, Abhay (Uday Chopra) who is not blessed with the ‘look’ but a lot of goodness in him. The vibrant, energetic and fun loving girl - ‘Alisha’ (Priyanka Chopra), who is the beauty queen of the college. A one sided love affair begins. Abhay come across situations which would have otherwise made the love possible, namely, saving the heroine from death. Then, fate didn’t favour him and they are destined to meet after 7 years. The next time meeting was not without surprises and even lesser possibilities. Watch Pyaar Impossible to know more about the story.
The story is based on a thin plot and once the characters and situations are set early in the film the movie taken a slow but feel good path to proceed. Then, the pace was quite slow throughout except in the climax. The two characters are well set, though the writer conveniently skips the incidents happen in the life of Alisha and an early pregnancy which does not suit the character of a modern outgoing girl. Obviously the story lack flesh in the body, probably following the diet instructions but I really wished it had more content to fill most part of the episode. The climax was predictable even before the interval and the second half was just prolonging the inevitable. The makers succeed in creating it as a feel good romantic experience but fail to take it to an extra level with few simple but effective incidents which makes all the wonders and huge difference. The story nearly missed the audience before the climax. However, the climax did well than excepted salvaged the show to an extent, though there were no twist in the offering.
Performance by Uday Chopra is very good and the well conceived character just found an easy outing in the actor in the artist and the performance is flawless. Priyanka Chopra is excellent in the film. This actress is very impressive lately and I am now looking forward to her next film, whatever it is. Her character was of one with full of energy and attitude and Priyanka Chopra did it convincingly. The child artist was too cool and did her role well. Dino Morea and Anupam Kher did their part good as well.
Music of the film is a mixed bag. I felt the song Alisha was disappointed, so was the Chocolate. I am not sure about the idea of invading Hinglish in lyrics of bollywood songs. The first two songs of the film were disappointing for quality and length. Choreography was not supporting any way and it took away the simplicity of the story as well. However, the second part of the movie got some impressive songs and there the choreography too was good. In fact the best part of the movie is two songs in the second half, the song by the child which was emotional and enlightening, and the one where Abhay convince Alisha that without look the hope for pyaar becomes impossible.
Cinematography varied from good and very good.
Overall, the movie is ok to watch for the feel good factor and for the well worked chemistry between the lead pair. However, it falls short of expectation and it could have been made better by adding some solid content to the story.
My rating: 2.75 stars.
