I had been in the Middle East for 6 years and I had the good fortune to fly Qatar airways many times. I should say that this airlines is the best and happens to be the youngest with its wide bodied fleet and new aircrafts.Let me start off from the beginning. The price of the ticket is affordable to every INDIAN expat in Gulf and it is also cheaper as compared to other airlines in its i.e when compared to Emirates, Gulf Air etc.. The baggage allowance which is given is usually 40 kg per person in the check in and 7.5 kgs in hand. But believe me 4-5 kgs in the check in are relaxed even if you are over weight by that margin. Usually you will end up carrying 12-13 kgs in hand also. The staff is very very courteous and they treat you very well.THEY DO NOT DO RACIAL PROFILING.
When you are in duty free of Doha Airport , believe me , you can buy the whole shop and still pay no extra money for hand baggage allowance. They politely take away the extra duty free linked stuff from you , pack it in a nice plastic baggage and check it as gate baggage. Even if the flight is late , they will give you meals coupes and take care of you in all aspects. The staff knows Hindi and English very well.They also know how we INDIANS travel. Sometimes you will have the surprise of being upgraded to Business Class irrespective of the status. This is what I call truly people’s airlines
During the flight , usual courtesy is extended to all people including our fellow INDIANS who are many a times first time fliers as they don’t know anything except their native language.Believe me , if these people , had they been flying in any American Airlines , I am sure the F 16s will be in air every time as the western cabin crew doesn’t know the culture and habits of ASIANS. They would panic easily on seeing our DESI people.
The in flight food is great , the service is good .
