See a Bollywood film with Nadeem-Shravan`s romantic music and lots of film stars.When one will listen to its songs, he will feel that it is the same old lovey-dovey story but NO!This week we have a film with a difference.The first digitally indian coloured movie.The trailors are enough to show that how hi-tech film is this one!We have a film made by Bawejas which is somewhat a science fiction!A very different film in Bollywood has released titled as QAYAMAT.
THE FILM:
Qayamat produced by Pammi Baweja and directed by Harry Baweja is an action packed film, which has been made in 15 crore Rs.This is a multistarrer film which stars Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Sanjay Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Riya Sen and Isha Koppikar with two debutantes, Aashish Chawdhary and the former Miss India Neha Dhupia.These days we have been watching love stories or horror films but this week we have an action packed movie.Although, many action films have been made in Bollywood but this one is different.This film has been made in a complete MATRIX style!
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Rachit(Ajay Devgan):Rachit, is a strong person who commits crime in a way, that stealing looks like an art.He takes drugs and looks strong from outer side, but from his inner side he is very emotional and sad because he misses Sapna, his love!This was the person who was with terrorism but now, along with Akram Sheikh will fight against terrorism!The city is under threat and Rachit will get the city out of this threat.Ajay Devgan, is one of the best actor of Bollywood, today.We saw him maturing as an actor in Company then, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Deewaange and Bhoot.We saw him excel in so many performances and this time also he has excelled.He has played the role of a romantic guy, terrorist and a saviour in this film.This proves how versatile an actor is Ajay Devgan!
2.Akram Sheikh(Suniel Shetty):Akram Sheikh is a C.B.I officer, who LOVES his country and wants it to get out of trouble.Ali, Abbas and Laila have smuggled in a deadly virus which can kill many people living in Mumbai but he will fight against the evil.Sunil Shetty is also outstanding in this film after working in C-grade films like ’’Maseeha’’ or ’’Karz’’.Suniel, this time shows sincerity in his work and complements Ajay at every step!
3.Ali, Abbas and Laila(Arbaaz Khan, Sanjay Kapoor and Isha Koppikar):Ali, Abbas and Laila are the three main villains of the film and because of them the city is under threat!They`ve smuggled in a deadly virus which can endanger the lives of people living in Mumbai.They are the evil and the good(Akram Sheikh and Rachit)will fight against this evil!Arbaaz Khan is back after a long break.We saw him in the flop film Soch but now this time he is in a first class film, showing how talented he is when it comes to a negative role.Good job!Sanjay Kapoor was in a negative role in ’’Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’’ but failed miserably!This time in a negative role, he is amazing and has shown alot of improvement.Ishaa Koppikar is the sex-goddess who in the song Qayamat Qayamat has performed strip-tease.In a negative role, with exposing she has also shined as a performer.She looks sexy, gorgeous and is ready to kill us by saying Khallas.
4.Rahul(Aashish Chawdhary):Rahul is a hard-working scientist, and is very professional.He is a shy guy, who is not so open with his girlfriend Sheetal!Aashish Chawdahry as a debutante is excellent.He has acted in many music videos like Asha Bhonsle`s ’’Na Marte Hum’’ and also in several T.V serials!He should continue to work hard, so that he can be successful!
5.Sheetal(Riya Sen):Sheetal is madly in love with Rahul and whenever she is alone at home she calls Rahul!Riya Sen as usual is unimpressive!But she isn`t so irritating because her role is very brief!
6.Sapna(Neha Dhupia):Sapna, is Rachit`s love interest, who now is not with Rachit due to circumstances.She is a simple girl who knows what LOVE really means!Neha Dhupia looks gorgeous and sexy but not much can be said about her performance because her voice was dubbed.Although, her face expressions are quite nice!
Chunky Pandey after a long, long time is back in Bollywood!He is okay in a role which does not give him as much scope to perform as much as Ajay has got!Ayub Khan looks tired and disinterested.Govind Namdeo is his usual-self, in a nothing new role, but passes!
THE STORY:
Akram Sheikh is a person who loves his country and hires a criminal, Rachit to help him fight against terrorism!Ali, Abbas and Laila are the ones who have got Mumbai under threat!They have smuggled in a deadly virus, which can kill many Mumbaikres!Not only, Mumbai but India is also under a great threat.This is all for the lust of power!What will Akram Sheikh and Rachit do???
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Harry Baweja`s direction is amazing.He has handled every scene with sensitivity and has extracted good performances from everyone!He has made a very modern film for Bollywood and his extra effort can be seen throughout the film!Special effects are simply the best!I have never seen such amazing special effects in any Bollywood film ever.This film needs to be seen on the big screen.Screenplay is gripping where as the editing is loose, because the film drags at places.Nadeem-Shravan`s music is nice and ’’Woh Ladki Bahut Yaad Aati Hai’’, ’’Yaar Pyaar Ho Gaya’’ and ’’Dil Chura Liya’’ are nice songs but some songs are vulgar and not for the family audiences!
ON THE WHOLE:
Qayamat is a well-made film and is worth a watch!There are excellent performances, an excellent story, special effects and different sets like an underground tunnel, a jail and a scientific laboratory!The movie will be liked by the youngsters and will be loved by action lovers.This film, technical wise is no less than a Hollywood film!Do watch it!
