First thing, Im giving it 3 stars because its not really QuackQuacks fault for the site not serving the intended purpose. Its due to the basic flaws with the online dating scene in India. And now, Ill start with the review.
I was a free member for over a year, and I used to get waves often( but only from women much older than me, since I hadnt set any age filter) . I was really impressed with the sites interface and features, so I decided to purchase a 1 month premium account to try out all the restricted features. Then I was in for a rude shock.
First problem is that, the male-female ratio on the site is EXTREMELY skewed. Im a 27 year old male, and was looking for a female between 20 and 26 in Bangalore interested in serious relationship. I dont think this is a very restrictive search filter. Still, I ended up with around 60 results which was quite disappointing. In any case, I did send personalized messages( not waves) to around 50 among those.
Now, heres the next problem. Its very difficult, if not impossible, for a man to get genuine responses unless hes a Tom cruise or Brad Pitt look-alike. I had uploaded some of my best pictures, which were actually much appreciated by many friends and relatives. Still, I just got 5 replies although I had sent messages to around 50 women. Im sure you agree that a 0.1% success rate with responses is not very encouraging.
The next issue is with the built-inchat functionality. Most women just refuse the chat request. The very few who do accept, almost always want to talk dirty and offer theirservices. Of course, I didnt entertain them because I was looking for a serious and clean relationship. So to all the women reading this, its not just men who have such intentions.
In spite of all this, I did get to meet two women from Bangalore itself, but it didnt really serve any purpose. The first one had mentioned a height of 54" on her profile, but her actual height was just around 410". Her casual response to this was "if I had mentioned my height as 410", no man would contact me". The next woman I met also had a fabricated profile. in fact, she had even lied to me about her name and education during our talks over the phone.
Once again, Im stressing that this isnt really QuackQuacks fault. Its a really wonderful site with a wonderful concept. But unfortunately, unless the mindset of Indians change, online dating will never work for the majority of Indian men. So even though I like the site, it doesnt really serve any purpose in India. But Im sure that if QuackQuack shifts its base to a different country, it has the potential of becoming one of the worlds top dating sites.
Im not a woman, so Ill just say something to all the Indian men reading this. If you people are looking for a serious and long term relationship, please refrain from QuackQuack or any other Indian dating site. It just might work for you if youre lucky, but the odds are stacked HEAVILY against you. Its much better if you register on a matrimonial site( instead of a dating site) and get to know the woman well before deciding to marry her or not. You can make a matrimonial site work like a dating site, but without the risks and disappointments associated with dating sites. And if youre looking for casual dates, youll have much better chances if hit popular pubs and nightclubs, than trying your luck on a dating site.
