When you enter the hotel(located in Thirumalai Pillai Road, T Nagar), the restaurant is located immediately on the right. Its more like a partition of the reception area, but you dont feel the difference. The maître d was courteous and seated us at the non-smoking area.
The spread is the usual buffet type one. We had soup at the table, vegetable and chicken soup. I loved the salad spread – the pineapple coleslaw was superb. The plantain fries were nice and panneer tikkas were good(I love it when they serve grilled items at the buffet). The veg patties and the baked small potatoes were only okayish. I had a good meal, but nothing to write home about.
My family, on the other hand, had a great time. I am a vegetarian but my mother tells me that the mutton was excellent. My brother also enjoyed the chicken lollipops and my father rather liked the egg salad. But they missed having a biriyani.
The dessert spread was cool. Chocolate gateau, dry jamun and various sweets were very tempting. We had vanilla ice cream but the choice of toppings was strongly noticed. I love to have walnuts and / or ground nuts with ice cream!
Theres also a fruit platter for the dieters. We left at around 11:30pm, just when a big birthday party gang entered the place. But they were very quiet. may be waiting for the clock to strike so that they can yell?
The place doesnt feel like a party hall though. one thing, its too small and another, the staff are too serious! LOL. But our waiter — who looked as if he was still in school — was a very gentle soul and out up with my familys idiosyncrasies very well indeed.
All in all, a very good value for money. Rs. 299 per head INCLUDING all taxes.
