The more commonly known one is the T.Nagar hotel but Quality Inn Sabari also has a big hotel, restaurant cum Bar at Navalur on the Old mahabalipuram Road and is a regular haunt of the IT crowd there.
I am recommending the lunch buffet there on any weekdays if one happens to work in any of the numerous IT companies there or on the weekends if one drives up to Mahabs.
First the food - The spread is quite extensive, vegetarian, non vegetarian, North Indian, South Indian, Punjabi, Mughlai, Chinese, Continental, all are adequately represented. The best choices are in the salads and desserts. Salads - one usually gets a choice of 8-10 different salads, most if not all of them quite intersting and tasty. I loved a anar and Bhindi salad which on first look seemed ridiculous to all of us who ate there recently but all 8 of us with quite different taste buds ended up liking it the best! Desserts again a choice of Souffles, Mousses to the traditional but intersting variants like papaya Halwa, strawberry Rajbogh etc.
The main course selections are fairly adequate, fresh Adai was made on the day we had gone with quite tasty Avials and Chutneys alonhg with it.
Ambience - quite a large and spacious room, I liked it the best. Too many good buffets in Chennai get very cramped, one has to shout to heard across even a small table at times, here the large space drwons the noise. Big Plasma TVs too if you are the quiet types .
Cost - Probably the best feature of the lot . 375 rs per head and if you are a large group, they automatically give you a 10% discount.
Only negative that I see is that if one lands up late, say around 2 lot of the goodies amongst the salads and Desserts get over. So please land up there by 1.15 to 1.30 at the latest!
