Somebody told me that Quantum of Solace is a bond movie, Having watched the movie I really have to say that I wasn’t able to recognize BOND in this movie! What I think i saw was a regular action film with a emotionless all the while sulking spy who is on killing spree, looking out of revenge!
As a action movie its ok , the plot is something that I could not figure out even after watching the whole movie (something about oil and water and overthrowing governments in south America).
For a movement lets forget the plot many bond movies have had bad plots but what about the style, the trademark lines, the gadgets everything is missing. Bond stood for Class, Bond stood for Coolness, I still remember in my school days when somebody used to pull of a darin stunt or patao a gorgeous gal, we used to say.. Woh toh Bond Admi hain, I mean such is the CULT of this man..
Now I hear they want to make Bond black , and that Akon wants to star as bond... well for all I care they can make bond animated , black, gay, a terrorist whatever…
Just count me out.
What I hated the most is the way that they have made the movie, I could have forgiven them if the makers wanted to make a bond film and just turned out that every scene were a mistake but every scene has been purposefully made into a mistake. like the scene when bond is drunk, mathis characters asks him "What are you drinking" a classic set up for one of Bond’s fav line... instead Bond is shown as clueless of what he drinking and instead he asks the bartender and he says something! This is not a mistake ... its done on purpose! it’s a CRIME.
If you want to make a bourne movie make a bourne movie. If you want to make a tragedy make a tragedy .If you want to make a movie on a man who is almost superhuman but has tremendous amount of hatred and sorrow, okkk make that, But why are you making Bond into that.
The world has changed , politically, socially and otherwise but somethings remain the same .Bond was one of them. You wanted to go dark with casino royale we said ok, but that was not enough now you want to go into making him a killing machine , with heavy emotions and no expressions and Somebody should be accountable.
After seeing the movie now I understand why they needed to name it Quantum of Solace, or maybe I don’t, but I don’t care one way or the other. and as Bond fan That I think means a lot.
