~Leave the ladies, I say~ Quick Gun Murugun

I was in double mind - A movie of this sort is not supposed to be reviewed! It is not the slapstick comedy of disaster genre! It should be coal black humour wherein you are not supposed not to evaluate the movie.

Shotgun Murugun was a spoof on the obese and garish looking heroes of Tamil pot boilers. Of late the possibility of this theme is reinvented in OSO (Yannada Rascala), Dhoni’s Advertisement (Mind it)

Spoof on South Indian accent (in clear term Tamil Accent, that too being delivered by a few of them) is an evergreen subject for humour. Here we have the misadventures of an Indian Cow Boy (Cowboy to be read as the saviour of cow and advocate of vegetarianism)

QGM carry himself in tight trouser which could even asphyxiate microbes, leopard skin jacket, pink scarf, white boots and cowboy hat! Also, the punching dialogue "Earth is my bed, sky is my ceiling, whole world is my native place"

The scene is set for whistling -----

The plot revolves around the battle between Rice Plate Reddy (Nasser) who vowed to convert all Uduppi / Veg restaurants as non vegetarian joints and Quickgun Murgun (Dr. Gedda Rajendra Prasad). The opening scene remind us of Fist of Fury (Bruce Lee) where in the protagonist is killed by the villain. But there is no need to shed tears - Murgon’s induction to Yamlok gives us enough clues about the roller coaster ride in veil. Yamlok consist of counters like "Merger with Universal Soul" where in deceased souls are waiting patiently to fill forms, Apsaras dancing to the aerobic tunes etc.

C Gupta (Vinay Pathak as Chitra Gupta) remind us of the bureaucrat who consider the application of souls to get them admitted to hell, heaven and occasionally back to earth. QGM want to return to earth to complete his mission to save the world from the misdeeds of Rice Plate Reddy!

In flashback, the encounter between Gunpowder and QGM with fire spitting dialogues from 1970s Tamil flicks accompanied by Jugal Bandi of Cow Boy background score and Carnatic music spark the laughter riot. Finally, QGM is back to earth but alas, one minute spent in Yamlok is equivalent to 20 years of earth. Rice plate Reddy is all set to launch Non Veg Mac Dosa with his corny associates Dr. Django (Ashwin Mushran) and Rowdy MBA (Raju Sundaram, Brother of Prabhu Deva), Mango Dolly (Rambha). They kidnap all good old moms in the neighbourhood for the recipe of best Dosa. QGM got in touch with brother in Matunga (Mini South India in Mumbai)! He is always guided by his heartthrob Lolakkutty (Anu Menon), the locket girl.

HALF TIME, I say----- [Let me have a cup of coffee, Mind it]

There are certain scenes and dialogues that got the potential to be a fad among youngsters! Especially, the resignation letter of Gun Powder, where in Rice Plate Reddy dictate the text like "YEXCLAMATION MARKKKKKK, FULLL SHTOPP". Those who remember Nasser in serioius roles (Remember Roja), will be surprised for sure.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad and QGM is one of the finest comedians from AP. I believe, he is known as Charlie Chaplin of AP! He got an amazing capability of maintaining straight face in most of the scenes. A man of 57 years - salute to his agility.

Oh Little Flower –song and scene is quite funny and engaging.

In short ----- this is a new variety of comedy of errors! Ruffians jumping from one coconut to another like bugs, South Indians pride in owning the alphabet "Zha" (sorry, cannot write in English), gun firing in slow motion and similar other iffy special effects, startling hoardings like "Institute of Coconut Climbing" "Training on beatlenut plucking" etc. ensure rib tickling of a different genre.
