Just yesterday I had an argument with a friend of mine about Leave your brains at home cinema and why he hates that term and its absolutely unacceptable to dish out crap and tell us to leave our Brains at home!
I am just Okay with leaving my brains at home as far as the movie doesnt compel me to go and get it back in the interval :-) Entertainment is not always Logic, in fact its difficult to sit down and pen down what entertains us, its different for all of us, yet there are some ground rules I guess!
A Don2 for example which is illogical from start to finish but it is Entertaining, not even once you feel like using your brains, and thats what movies are meant to be, they are meant to take you to fantasy land, tell you a story, I dont care if the story is real or not I just want to be entertained! That is why I buy a ticket and watch it!
For me a movie to be entertaining it should have a heart! There should be something meaty, there should be something that keeps me interested, sadly Ra.One has NONE! This was my exact problem with Aisha!
How HART less oops Heartless can a movie get? Ra.One in all respects raises the bar for all those movies with no heart forget soul!
The movie begins with a lady explaining about the new breakthrough technology which can make the virtual world seem real, I fell asleep in the middle of the scene, this has happened only in one other movie which was Whats your Rashee!
Then my interest kept diminishing with every scene, but when I saw the scene where Shekhar eats noodles with curd with his hands, my mind became numb to anything that was shown on screen! I have seen movies with blood and gore but nothing had grossed me out so much in 20 odd years of my life! Not even the eye squishing scene in Kill bill !
No matter how fantastic the action scenes were shot or the technology or the 180 crs that were spent in the movie, absolutely nothing could make me like anything that was shown in the movie, I tried HARD real HARD to like something or feel a connect, but nothing happened!
Then the interval came on, after which the jokes getting more vulgar but the second half looked a little more promising than the first half, Thanks to Arjun Rampal and his Body at least there was something that clicked!
And by the time Chamak Chalo which is the high light of the movie I had lost all hope, but that scene where Kareena Kapoors eyes become red, thats the only scene I liked in the entire movie!
I am Okay with the concept of two characters coming out of video game and fighting each other, in fact its really interesting, but What I am not OK with is that the movie has not dealt with the idea properly ! The south Indian angle seems to have put just to poke fun at Madrasis, the supposed to be funny jokes just ruin everything, SRK is not believable as G.ONE, the kid never comes across as a kid and even Rajnis special apperance looks out of place! My dream on Ra.One when it got released was nicer! It just looks like the extended version of Pepsis ad campaign with Sanjay Dutt and Ranbir Kapoor.
Overall, even being a die hard SRK fan cant make you like this movie! Avoid if you dont want to be disappointed!
PS : Thank god they dint show the HART to be somewhere else! :l and Filmey gaaliyon se nahi heart se banayi jaati hai!
