RaOne: Cinematic Masterpiece Experience
Ok, so SRK is back in my book of sheer genius. RaOne explores the theme of the Ramayan and gives it an ultra modern, uber cool twist, combining it with contemporary gaming technology, that sets the right Diwali spirit.
So, RaOne is Shekhar Subraniam’s Frankenstein and just won’t stop till he’s killed his arch rival, Lucifer, played convincingly by a child artist who does apt justice by challenging his father’s simple but idealistic principles.
In the penultimate scene, when RaOne confronts Lucifer, he proclaims that it is inappropriate to create situations and people that are beyond human control. Prateek wanted his father, a prolific gamer, to create a console game that has a villain as its hero. And lo and behold! The father does just that and inadvertently creates a hero who will threaten his family, himself and his precious son.
RaOne’s character brings to life the epic battle between good and evil. Probably, SRK wanted to highlight the importance of a moral life to the coming, younger generations. There are many individual, social, and philosophical messages hidden through the deep layers of the magnum opus.
Most prodigious is the one in which RaOne says, “You have to kill Ravan every year because he has never died, ” followed by the belief by G.One in the movie that if you dabble with evil, it will follow you like a shadow. Also, RaOne gives out am important message in the film that we must create and innovate within the set limits of science and research. This is conducive to the modern approach of urbanization, in which so much land is dug up to create habitable areas for humans. It is also appropriate when you realize how much human greed has affected the environment.
The film scores a neat 10 on all parameters. The story is classic but modern in its undertones. The action, animation, gaming technology are simply mind boggling. The actors and performers have given the best that they could have. SRK, as usual enthralls, and the most remarkable are his action scenes in the Mumbai local, in the city, in the US, and of course, Arjun Rampal is fierce in his appeal as RaOne. SRK is one wine that improves as he ages.
Kareena dons the role of wife with grace, and charming beauty, the child artist is refreshingly sharp with his wit; please mark his language when he confronts RaOne in the first game, simply awesome and chillingly contemporary. The music, oh, what to say here, except that the songs are most hummable; in fact on Chhamak Chhalo, you actually want to get up and do a little jig. Choreography has visual appeal, and is very entertaining.
Criminal is great, as also the song playing during the last title credits, please pay attention to the lyrics here, there are soulful messages in each word. Absolutely creative masterpieces, hats off, 3 cheers to SRK, Gauri Khan and team for a diamond of a pataka in this celebratory season.
