Raag Desh is a upcoming movie directed by National Award winner Tigmanshu Dhulia and Produced by Gurdeep Singh Sappal. It casts Kunal Kapoor as Shah Nawaz Khan, Amit Sadh as Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, Mohit Marwah as Prem Saghal and many more. Raag Desh is a period film, based on the Indian National Army set up by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and the war to liberate India from the British Government which was fought on the shores of the Irrawaddy in Burma.
The british Government called the soldiers of the INA "renegades and Japanese stooges ", and a trial was held at the Red Fort in Delhi, which was callled the Red Fort Trials of 1945. Raag Desh brings to life that epic trial which paved the way for India’s freedom. During the scripting stage, Tigmanshu wanted Hrithik Roshan for Kunal Kapoors role and Ajay Devagn for Amit Sadh. Than after that did not work out Tigmanshu wanted project to be 6 hours long period documentary to be shown on Tv in 2 parts. Shah Nawaz Khan, the titular character to be portrayed by Kunal Kapoor, who was a prominent Indian politician is the Maternal grandfather of Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Special Screening Raag Desh will host a special screening for the out going President Pranab Mukherjee. The Screening will be attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, Prof P J Kurien - Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Vice-President of India Hamid Ansari and other prominent leaders of Rajya Sabha. The film is set to release on July 28, 2017.
