The present era is such that if you don’t show your patriotism in your attitude than your existence is questioned, well Raag Desh is about three young soldiers of the Indian National Army which was formed by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, it is about their trial for treason and how they are in need of a lawyer to help them face the outcome of their courage.
It takes us back to the pre-independence era and tell us the story of Maj. Gen. Shanawaz khan played by actor kunal kapoor, Lt. Col. Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon played by actor Amit sadh and Col. Prem Sehgal played by actor Mohit marwah, all three were the fearless young soldiers of the Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army which was short lived but left a powerful impact. It didn’t met the expectation as it was not like as it has promised to be. The story is shown in a series of fackbacks, Netaji is played by regional actor kenny basumatary who earlier appeared on the movie mary kom.
So the above said soliers are caught and charged with murder and treason and Bhulabhai Desai, the famous lawyer of their time fought their case, it is through this three soldiers from different religion, hindu, sikh and muslim that we are realised how the mighty army was formed even if it was against Gandhiji Non violent movement. so where it goes wrong? well there is too much of war scenes which are very awkward and since the movie is based on flashbacks the past and present transition could have made more better since the movie tries to unravel lot of complexity of the events.
Director Tigmanshu Dhulia tried his best to recreates the past era but he fails as the movie is over occupied with lot of facts dates and than suddenly it brings relatives of the actors who also have their own stories so it is death by information. watch it on laptop.
