The title has absolutely no relevance no my review but isnt this a coincidence that in Jannat, Ishaqzaade and now in Raanjhana name of the girl was Zoya and the guy died :P so my sincere suggestion to all you guys is Be Careful!! :P
Anyways coming back to the movie
Plot-This is the story of Kundan Shekhar and his undying love for Zoya Haider.This was love at first when they were merely high schoolers. His persuasion and a cut in his hand makes Her fall in love with Him. They separate as her father comes to know about. While leaving the boy promises that he will win over her parents.
8 years later, girl comes back but now she is educated unlike the boy who hasbeen waiting all this while.She is practical, intellectual and wants to make a difference in society and in love with someone else but the guy hasnt time travelled.He is still in love with her and still waiting.What happens when they meet after 8 years is next 1.5 hrs of the movie.
The story(Yes fortunately it has one unlike the recent disasters that I saw!!) is flamboyant and contemporary.and has been narrated excellently by the director Anand L Rai who previously directed Tanu weds Manu and Thodi life thoda magic.The screenplay and cinematography both are good and makes the flow of the movie easy and connected.
Actors
Dhanush who is a south indian super star makes his debut in bollywood and how. He carried the entire movie in his shoulder. For looks of a hero he has none but for caliber of an actor I think he is over flowing.....The character of kundan who is hopelessly in love with Zoya and later his metamorphosis into a leader is performed brilliantly by him, his path to self discovery, his redemption his self actualization has been captured , written as well as performed well. You just cant help but fall in love with Kunder for his innocence and dedication to the woman he loves.I think this what makes him a national award winner!
Sonam Kapoor who plays Kundan’s love interest has pulled the role well, at least better that her previous disastrous roles. She looked pretty dressed well and made the character of Zoya well convincing enough
Abhay Deol-It was a cameo by him but quite a pivotal role.His character actually sets entire movie in motion.Abhay looked good and acted well...well he doesnt really have a put in a lot of effort in either department he is naturally good :)
Swara Bhaskar who portrays the character of a woman who has one sided feelings for kundan is a charmer...she is such a good actress
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as a loyal friend and well wisher of Kundan is absolutely a delight to watch. He brings in the elements of humor and sarcasm and is my favorite character in the movie
Technically the movie is good and the music by A R Rahman well I would say is average...he has produced far better music before
All in All a one timer.
