Well I had huge expectations from this film which didn’t get fulfilled. Rab ne... is completely ordinary and average. Well I will not disclose the plot but I will definitely say that the plot was a complete letdown. It was extremely predictable and somewhat boring. Rab ne.. is aditya chopra’s weakest film to date. The screenplay only works in parts otherwise it is slow and tedious. Some scenes definitely leave a mark especially anushka riding the bike, the sumo fight, the golgappa competition, the scene where shahrukh proposes by lighting the city; other than some scenes the remaining film is just boring.
The editing is also weak especially in the second half which is too long. The direction is nice and dialogues are plain ordinary. Shahrukh’s raj character is very irritating and completely over the top. However his performance in the character of surinder is heart melting. Anushka is simply fabulous in the film. She looks very cute and sweet and has given a commendable performance. Vinay pathak is just ok. The music is very good.
All the songs are beautiful and well picturised especiallly tujhme rab dikhta hai, haule haule and chalte chalte which is a treat to watch. The script is very superficial and unreal and the screenplay very predictable, boring and run of the mill.However the end credits are very sweet to watch. Overall a huge let down by yash raj films. Just average
