Hello Friends,
RNBDJ is out with a bang and all we Yashraj films fans and SRK fans too must have huge hopes on this one. Isnt it? I like YR films because they carry great awe and their work is highly intellectual and robust. At least they have that reputation.
So, coming to the point, was the movie good enough as the way it was promoted? The answer to this question is 50/50. The movies banner has its most trusted coin the HE himself SRK, but even he cannot save the ship becoming Titanic. (Not the movie offcousre)
The movie is all about Surrinder Suri - SRK and Taani - Anushka Sharma. Surinder, is a down to earth common man and happens to marry Taani in an accidental way. Taani was all set to marry her lover but eventually, in an accident all the passengers including the boy died. All this accidental issue happened right on the day of marriage.Father hearing about the accident got an heart attack. Its time for the him to react quickly and secure his daughters future before he dies. Surinder was already thre for attending the marriage ceremony of his Teachers daughter! He being a trusted student in the past and a known person was an immediate choice. Masterji convinced Surinder to marry Taani. (These sequences were used in 1980/1990s era and they were as irritating then as they are now - TOO much drama).
Taani is a happy going chulbulee girl and Sada Suri is a common shy fellow. He is so shy of girls that he confesses this in front of his wife that he has no girlfriends or never has he chatted with LADIES - A poor guy (GYA?) ! As obvious, she is not able to get along with such a person so easily. She does let him know about the difference they both have among themselves that her combination with him is not HONEY - MILK. But Suri (recollecting his manlyhood) is madly in love with Taani and is ready to do anything to get her LOVE - In short RAM wants to be Rambo now. So how these two mingle together and what Suri does to get Taani is the plot of the movie. In short Suri tries to impress his wife becoming Raj - a motor garage owner and a man of full confidence and sporty attitude. (The way Taani wants her hubby to be)
The movie lacks a consistent pace to which we call as Screenplay. The first half of the movie makes you feel that something promising is yet to come. It creates huge curiosity in your minds and you keep expecting something different to happen and only something different keeps coming from what you would have expected. The story was not convincing and it makes us think that is it really possible for anyone to change his hair style and clothing and then be able to deceive anyone - So easily. OK I agree that it might be possible to some extent, but what about the voice? Changing the way you look isnt enough MR. ADI. Again, how can you expect a total turnaround of a man being so simple, becoming something like RAJ all of a sudden just overnight - This is simply impossible? I agree that in Bollywood anything is possible, but even that has some limits to the reality if a logical comparison is made.
Dear friends, this movie is a height of fiction. You would like Surinders role but his turnaround into irritating Raj shall not be easy to digest. The dialogues are not up to the mark and they might make you Yawn after sometime. The fist 45/50 minutes of the movie is really good and you realize that you are watching the King Khan at his best. But later on as the movie progresses you have to bear RAJ who overshadows Suri and you forget his good job done by former (Surinder) and want later (Raj) to be off the screen at the next given moment.
Something Nonsense to see:
Taani and Raj are now dancing partners and once Raj didnt turn up for practice. Taani tries to get the number from the help desk and realizes that only address is given!!! People, just think over it, that is it possible to enter a compettition and do not register your number over there? Ok I excuse bollywood over there, but if you are having a dance partner, will you not have his/her number? No boy/Girl is so dumb these days. Mr.Adi, you need to do lot of homework on your script. There are plenty of such things in the movie which have crept in and thus the theme is not getting the respect it deserves.
Anushka as Taani is good and she must consider herself lucky that she got herself to work with SRK and that the first film is a hit. (At least box-office collections would suggest so). She has to work even harder since she doesn’t seem to be a Bollywood actress material, if we compare her with Ash, Priyanka etc. She has good chances of improvement though. Good luck to her.
Vianay Pathak as Bobby has done a fantastic job and he too adds some comic scenes to the story.
Music is good but the background score is silly and makes you feel sleepy in the hall. So have some coffee with you when you enter.
Finally, I can say its a one time watch and a treat for first 45 minutes and later on its a see saw game. If you are an SRK fan then you may like it and if not then you can enjoy it to some extent. And, if you are a serious movie watcher then you might be disappointed with the overall show. I am still recommending it since I think that at least some part is good to watch. (And also there are no more attractions coming before GHAZNI)
Thank you for reading.
