One of the most awaited release of this year, A banner which was dying to give a hit movie, A director who desperately wanted to give Indian cinema another block buster movie from his banner like DDLJ, Another lucky girl who has made his debut with SRK, yeah I am talking about Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
This movie starring The King himself Shahrukh Khan(Surinder Sahni/ Raaj), a superb actor Vinay Pathak(Bobby Khosla) and a model turned actress Anushka Sharma(Taani) as debutant. The picture starts with wedding day of Taani, she is beautiful, funny, naughty…just like a typical Punjabi girl. Surinder Sahni is favorite student of her father. He is also present on the wedding day. Every thing is going alright but suddenly a sad news comes that the bus in which Taani ‘s future husband was coming has met with an accident. Her father got a heart attack. During his few last moments in the hospital he requests Surinder and Taani to get married. After that day Taani changes completely. She is now completely silent. On the other hand surinder is not happy to see Taani in this condition. He loves her and tries to impress her but all in vain. Taani clarifies to surinder that I can just be your wife but I can’t love you. This hurts surinder.
One day a dance group comes to town to select best dancing couple of Amritsar. Taani tells her husband that she loves to dance and she wanted to participate in the dance competition. Surinder agrees and tells bobby about this. Than bobby tells him that he can change him completely so that he can also go to the dance competition to watch Taani dancing. So surinder gets a complete make over and becomes Raaj.
In the dance competition, Taani has given a partner and yes…It is Raaj. Surinder turned Raaj don’t know a thing about dance. So Taani make him dance by the song “Dance pe Chance”. And they got selected in top 10 dancing couples.
Soon surinder realizes that Taani loves Raaj not Surinder. so he fights with a sumo wrestler to prove Taani that he loves him. but results are totally opposite. Taani didn’t like a bit of fighting of surinder with a sumo wrestler. On the opposite side Raaj do everything to impress Taani. And this results that Taani is ready to go away with Raaj and she wants to leave Surinder.(Poor girl, she doesn’t know that they both are the same person).
So, to know how surinder impress his wife and who tells Taani that surinder and Raaj are the same person, and who wins the dance competition, Taani and Raaj OR Taani and Surinder, you have to watch this movie.
Overall, this is a good movie. No need to say about SRK. He is best in his every film, but he is now showing signs of his age. Vinay Pathak is an under-dog actor, believe me he is very impressive. And the new girl Anushka has done a great job. Superb performance, in my opinion she has done better than what Deepika did in OSO. Anushka has a cute face, a smile to die for, and acting worth praising. Music is OK-OK, I liked the song “Tujhme Rab Dikhta Hai”.
It also has a few surprises, let me give you some hints. The movie has something related to Dhoom 3 and this movie has Kajol, Bipasha, Preity Zinta and so called future wife of the Director Aditya Chopra-Rani Mukharji.
