An entirely predictable suspense thriller.........

Race starts off with a horse derby.........with Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Mr. Dont-remember-his-name (Dalip Tahil) place huge amounts of money on their horses. Race ends with a all or nothing car race among the two brothers Ranvir and Rajeev (Akshaye Khanna). Thats all the excitement one is going to get out of this movie. In fact even the two races are not that thrilling enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. One would only enjoy these races because there is nothing else to look forward too.

Race is the story of two brothers whose sole income is from the stud farm that they have mortgaged to the bank. Ranvir meets Sonia (Bipasha Basu) and falls in love with her. Ranvir’s secretary Sophia (Katrina Kaif) falls in love with him. Ranvir’s alcoholic brother, Rajeev meets Sonia and falls in love with her. Rajeev promises that he would give up alcohol if Sonia comes into his life.

Ranvir gives up Sonia for his brother. In between all this muddle, a conspiracy is hatched by someone  for getting $100 million of insurance money by killing his brother. Just before the interval, Anil Kapoor comes in as a detective to investigate a "suicide". The lack of the creativity can be judged by the dialogue said by Anil Kapoor’s character RD which was "Ab aayega mazaa". An inspector coming to a suicide scene saying such a thing........please save us from these "one-liners". RD has a secretary played by Sameera Reddy. She tries to act as a person who would lose in a contest with a paanchvi pass.

The music is totally passable with songs like Rock the Dance floor only adding to the torture. The costume designer must have been intoxicated to come up with such clothes for the characters. Somebody please advice Bipasha Basu that it should be her personality that should be appealing and not her skimpily clad body.

Abbas - Mustan tried to make this a movie with a twist in each sequence, but they should realise that this is not the era when people do not have access to television and hollywood. The entire plot is predictable and ho-hum.

Also, I know that every fifth person in the world is an Indian, but why do the directors have to place an Indian in every important post in South Africa.

An entirely avoidable movie with nothing to look forward to
