The Next Big Thing?!!

When Radiocity was launched in Bangalore in July 2001, I wundered wot the fuss was all about!!? I thot ’’C’mon guyz, wots so gr8 abt an FM station??!’’ I mean wots such a thing to make fuss abt? Dont tell me Bangalore had finally arrived when I had been listening to Times FM in Mumbai all the way back in 1995!!

Well, within some weeks of the launch, it did rub some people the wrong way as it had no content in the local language Kannada!! The movers behind the station scampered and added some kannada songs here and there!!

So whats so gr8 about this Staion...well some of the RJ’s are cool and really do talk sense...I liked the early morning vibe with Vera...now she’s no longer there with Radiocity and the new RJ Sunaina barely just fits into her shoes...it does really keep U updated about whats happening in Bangalore and has a very useful section about the traffic conditions at various hot spots in Bangalore...a real boon of guyz who have to drive around town. It also has some cool shows specially the late show with Priya Ganapathy which includes some gr8 music and the Retro Show...but the shows like the request show and the club show are too hyped and have limited scope of music and the rj’s definitely try too hard to play cool(and fail miserably!!)...they really dont have a gr8 collection of songs and keep playing the same stuff over & over again....

a refreshing breath is the matinee show with sheetal...she really manages to talk about some issues and manages to get some cool people on the show...also she manages to play some real good hindi songs...

an absolute delight is Ms. Lingolila’s colloquial class where she enlightens us about ’’the locals language’’!! absolutely delightful!!!

(by the way did ya guyz know that Ms. Lingolila is actually Priya Ganapathy?!! well now U know!!)

:)

and as Prof Higgins’ sings in ’’My Fair Lady’’..’’...I’ve got accustomed to her face...’’

I guez we bangaloreans really cant do without this station any more!!(not to mention the money U save by not buying tapes to play in the car!! :D)

overall, does add character to this gr8 city of Bangalore!!
