DEsigner watches are usally considered as a collector’s item or a piece of jewellery.Even though this is yet to catch up in India , where watch is nothing but a strap of leather on the wrist.But with the opening up of the market, it is gradually changing.No watch carries authenticity until it carries that ’’Swiss’’ tag .Also why not, havent they proved with so many world famous brands ? But my object of Swiss desire in this review is the ’’RADO’’.
I usually borrow with lots of coaxing , this watch from my dad , for some special occasions.And once I return back, I just dont feel like wearing any of my watches, it looks so ordinarily dull.That’s what I call the power of RADO.It is the only watch that has such a creative magnetic appeal .Infact its the only watch that has exploited the vicious beauty of ’’Black’’colour and crafted into watches.I have not seen any brands say Cartier, Tissot etc that uses ’’Black’’ as the primary design colour and is the trademark that is special only to RADO. The gleam , the glint, the glaze , the sleek look all radiates that mark of elegance , which can never go unoticed when one wears it.
There are many designs in Rado, but I dont like the one with a gawdy reddish orange leather strapped watch.I prefer the one with blackish mettal strap , that is so unique only to this brand and perfectly blends with the goden dial and the design . There are many brands that have tried to imitate this style , but has always failed.In India I have seen many Rado-look alikes from Singapore, Thailand but at the look of it, one can make out its a fake.
Now coming to the all important thing of pricing, please close your eyes and ears.Its damn too costly , with starting range from nearly $800 to nearly $5000. Afterall , beauty comes with a price to pay, right? That’s the saga of my flirting with this black signature label!!
