The bugs loved this place, but we did not...

The worst aspects of

this hotel are the many mosquitoes and the unpleasant smell - the latter

apparently from the busy curry restaurant next door. The mosquitoes where

relentless. We where covered in bites after one night. Better not stay there if

you are worried about malaria...

The hotel is very small and has no

reception hall, but only a dingy little office. We found the rooms adequate, but

far from being luxurious. The air conditioning unit was loud and of very poor

quality. There was no safe in the room and no TV. The bathroom missed basic

toiletries like shower gel and shampoo. When my wife had a massage, she was not

at all impressed with the hygienic standard of the facility : the massage bed

was not properly cleaned after each client, but just wiped with a filthy

cotton scarf.

The food we had in the rooftop restaurant was edible, but

nothing mouthwatering.

The pool area is very small, but the beach is not an

alternative. ( You do not want to swim there, as it is used as a toilet by

locals. Also people will inevitably stare at you. ) On a more positive note,

the hotel has a nice reading room and the location is fairly convenient to

explore Alleppey and the Backwaters or to make a daytrip to Cochin ( a lovely

town- highly recommended ).
