Title : ON CAPTAINS’ DECLARATION AT 194
Review : In India lots of people follow cricket rather than play cricket. Lots of people watch test players game particularly watch one day cricket due to the thrills and uncertainty of the game. Recently lots of wrong messages had been spread by the media and the people all over India that declaration by the captain at 194 is wrong.
A captain can declare the team at any score. A captain is the ultimate authority for any decisions while the game is being played. Even the cricket Board President or members of the cricket board also cannot do anything after the decision is made regarding any teams’ declaration.
This authority for declaration at any score is given by all the players. It is not practically possible to get the sanction from all the players, board members for taking the decision regarding declarations. If I was the captain of the Indian cricket team I would have declared even much earlier like 600 or even 500 runs and concentrate on proper bowling and proper field placements and concentrate on taking wickets and finish the game early and go back to the hotel and take full rest and be ready for the next match. It is not declaration alone. A captain can dismiss any player JUST BEFORE THE START OF THE MATCH and select any player of the captains’ choice.
In other words, if the captain feels that player ’A’ is unfit he can dismiss the player ’A’ and select even ’YOU’ if the captain feels that YOU COULD BE AN ASSET. THAT IS CAPTAINS ULTIMATE CHOICE LIKE GOD. ARE YOU READY TO PLAY CRICKET. BE READY TO PLAY CRICKET IF YOU HAVE TALENTS. YOU COULD BE SELECTED IF THE CAPTAIN OF THE CRICKET TEAM KNOWS YOUR TALENTS.
A captain can do so many other things for which all the players authorise and accept the captain as a leader in cricket team. People have so much of knowledge in cricket but still so much of less knowledge and criticise the leader who is taking the responsibility and decision making is such a headache work and people give wrong ideas and put the authorised captains’ decision making a big joke.
