Raifad is the erstwhile capital of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is situated at huge height above the ground level. It has approximately 2500-3000 stairs to go through. The Rope way option is there for those who don’t want to go through the stairs. It is the only fort constructed at this much height. You can go to Raigad with various options like flight, road and rail. Nearest is Mumbai. Taxis and buses continously available for Raigad. It is veru easy to go there. Transportation is well arranged. As this fort is located very high above sea level you can get the beautiful view from upside. With binoculars you can observe almost everything around the Raigad. Raigad is an affordable place in case of hotels and food. I just love this place. It’s my favourite one
