I booked a prior appointment for my son with Dr. Jayanth S Sampath at Rainbow Children Hospital Marthahalli at 11 am today. We reported there by 10:30 am and were waiting in OPD waiting area, we found waiting area seats were very dirty, there was no one mopping the floor in the last 2.5/3 hrs we spent there. Compared to this hospital we have observed in other hospitals because of covid they keep on mopping floors quite often but was surprised by such a big renowned hospital not giving importance to these things.


My 2 months old baby required feeding and in the feeding room, they kept 2 sofas together in such a compact room and allowing 2 persons to feed. My wife was not at all comfortable with this and was this as per covid guidelines? Where is social distancing? Is this the hospital’s approach in dealing with this pandemic? My baby was born in a different hospital and had frequent visits for vaccination and other treatment but never they took any temperature reading for my baby but here at entry gate you are checking reading but inside you are not taking any prevention. It was a very difficult time for all of us and wanted Dr to see my baby asap so that we can leave as early as possible.


We were kept on waiting for our number but when it became 12 we approached Sister/Nurse/Attendant to know when will be our turn and she said Dr is checking 1st patient now and my son OPD card is after 10 patients and it will take time as Dr examines patient thoroughly and it takes time. We started waiting for our turn and were waiting in the OPD sitting area. My baby was in direct exposure for so long hours felt like risk and pleaded attendant to please request Dr to see my baby he is just 2 months old and there are so many things to look after but she did not hear and asked us to wait. Again after an hour when we did not hear anything from her then I went to enquire and found out our no is still 8.


We got literally frustrated with this poor service. Is this how you are managing? Why you are taking so many patients when you can not see them in assigned time slots? Several patients who came after us you saw them, is this right? Why not give a token to patients for transparency? Visit the AIIMS trauma center and learn how they are managing the queues. In 2016 I had visited it and was surprised by their outstanding service. First time in my life I came back home without seeing Dr and never experienced such pathetic service from such a private hospital. Even government hospital AIIMS Delhi is way better than yours in managing the service.


Learn from them how they manage huge queues. Who will bear to and fro Uber Cost and important time wasted there? Is this the service you provide? I generally digest all such bad incidents and rarely provide feedback but this time I am feeling so miserable and dejected. I know very well my feedback doesn’t matter and nothing will improve but at least it will help me in venting out the heat boiling inside me.


A famous song from the movie Albela (1951) reminds me about this experience "bholi surat dil ke khote naam bade aur darshan chhote"
