I recently gave birth via C-section at Rainbow Hospital, Hydernagar branch, and while I received excellent support from the doctors throughout my pregnancy, my overall experience was very disappointing due to their billing and administrative services.
The hospital’s billing process was a nightmare. Despite my insurance provider covering 68, 000 INR, I was charged an additional 68, 000 INR in cash, totaling 132, 000 INR for just a two-day stay for both mother and child. This cost was incurred even though there were no extra treatments or complications such as jaundice. It felt as though we were discharged a day early just to minimize costs, without any clear explanation for the high charges.
We have been following up for two months to get clarity on the treatment costs, but the hospital simply told us to keep a 20, 000 INR buffer with insurance, without any detailed breakdown. The admission cost estimate was also unclear from the beginning, leaving us unprepared for the eventual expenses. Furthermore, I had to pay the additional amount with great difficulty at the time of discharge.
Adding to the frustration, the hospital did not provide the necessary forms for birth certificates at the time of discharge. These forms were only given after a follow-up post-discharge.
The only positive aspect of our experience was the medical care provided by the doctors, who ensured the safety and well-being of both mother and baby. However, the poor administrative and billing services overshadowed this.
In summary, while the medical treatment was satisfactory, the overall experience at Rainbow Hospital, Hydernagar branch was disappointing and stressful due to their lack of transparency and inadequate patient preparation in terms of billing and administrative procedures. I would not recommend this hospital to others based on my experience.
