A beautiful painting

What a film.....This film was just lying in my collection and I just saw it after many month’s delay. The name of the movie never got me interested to watch it. When I finally did watch it yesterday, I was a little disappointed with myself that I have ignored such a gem.

The movie is a like a beautiful painting. It seems to be an afsaana from Manto’s, Bedi or Tagore’s collection.

This is a story about 2 lovers who could not get married. Starts with Ajay Devgan who is a middle class, out of job lad trying to find money from his ex-mates to start his business. He comes to calcutta and meets his ex-flame Ashwairya Rai. Then the rest of the story revolves around both sitting in her home trying to deceive each other, trying to lie about their well being, trying to convince each other, how well settled they are in life.

However, they both realize gradually, their anguish and pain.

I dont want to reveal the rest of the story as I do want whoever has not seen the movie by now, should see it.

Ajay Devgan has portrayed her character with elan, with ease and with tremendous facial expression. Ash is also good. Anu kapoor excells in his brief cameo.

The director deserves kudos for trying to make a movie which he probably knew would not be a commerical success and will have niche audience. That is the reason that this movie will not be appreciated by the masses.
