Rajmachi, is one of the best trek, which I have experienced. It is around 30 Kms away from Karjat, maharastra ( Central Railway ) or 18 km from Lonavala.
Best season : July to October.
Worst season : In Summer.
To start the trek, you must have to catch last local train to karjat which will reach there around 2.00 AM. After some break you will get first bus to the village sachi, which is around 4.30, AM. Rickshaw is also alternate option for it. You have to get down one stop before sachi. After that your trek begins. It will take around 4 hours to reach to the destination. Trek is not that tough, but be little careful because way to destination is quite slippery during monsoon time. The most important thing to keep in mind wear better shoes mostly canvas shoes, otherwise it is very hard to walk. No need to carry water with you, because you will find many springs on the way and you will enjoy the taste of natural water. That is my view. If you want you can carry water with you but this will add burden to your luggage. And nothing to worry about your lunch, you will get everything on the top of the fort. Fort is very nice. You will sure enjoy there. Carry some light food with you which will helpful to you in case of missing the route ( Most of the time it happens).
Time Table for this trek :
To Karjat : 2:00 AM
To Sachi ( One Stop Before ) : 4.30 AM to 5.00 AM
To the Top of the Fort : 5.30 AM to 9.00 AM
Enjoy on the top with lunch : 9.30 AM to 3.30 PM
From Rajmachi to Sachi : 3.30 PM to 6.00 PM
Back to Karjat : 6.30 PM
Back to Home : 8.00 PM
This is what, we had made it. You will add / remove your time base on your experience of trek.
Things to keep in mind :
Wear good shoes.
Don’t wear sarees or salwar ( For girls )
Carry only trekker bag.
Carry some light food.
Don’t carry umbrellas ( Not useful at all )
Alternate way is from Lonavala to Rajmachi ( Not very difficult ) But will take more time.
Note :You can hire some local villagers for showing the way to the fort.
