What makes man dreaming?  What makes one married man dreaming?  What makes one married man dreaming of somebody else’s wife?  What if he start dreaming he is married to his friend’s wife, neighbour’s wife and even a bar girl?  Let me ask another question.   Is dreaming a crime?  Can police jail a person for doing this?  How they can prove that this person was dreaming and did something really offensive?   Arre, even if he didn’t did something offensive, how can one husband to stand with this man?   No..no…I am not following the FAQ series here.

Rama Rama Kya Hai Dramaaa unfolds mainly on the marriage life of Santhosh (Rajpal Yadav) & Shanti (Neha Dhupia).   Shanti is born and bought up in Kota (Rajastan) lived a luxurious life, always dream of a fast paced city life.  When a proposal from a bank employee of Mumbai came to her, the marriage was fixed in the traditional way, where Santhosh didn’t even saw Shanti’s face before marriage in accordance with the local tradition.   At Mumbai she was asked to sit at home where she wanted to go out everyday, go for picnic every Sunday etc.   The complex husband who knows that he is short and not safe to roam around with her ordered her to stay at home.   Inevitably their relation stepped into trouble which easily affected Santhosh’s work at bank.  Prem (Ashish Chaudhary) is the bank manager married to a very demanding wife Khushi (Amrita Arora) but always live in a fantasy world.   Prem always exaggerate their married life glory to Santhosh, so is the bachelor friends in the bank on their temporary live togetherness.   The insecure husband start dreaming what will be my life with the lady in question each time, but finds that he cannot live happily with them.   This lead to another fantasy and at the end the fantasy becomes a villain.   Mr & Mrs Khurana (Anupam Kher & Rati Agnihotri) play the happy living couple in the neighbourhood who always stand with relations.

Overall the movie gives a pleasant feeling.    The flavor of the movie is clean comedy.    One may feel that the genre of the movie is quite outdated, but we are asked to fix our expectation on the lower side and take it as a casual walk.

The script could be better done to make the film more interesting.   I have a feeling that the movie which censored for 16 reels are trimmed afterwards to fit into 2.20 – 2.25 range and a good number of scenes are edited.   Anyways, the script don’t look perfect, however the general rule of don’t look for logic in a light comedy comes for the rescue of the film.

The debutant Director Chandrakant Singh did a good job for a beginner and with some support from good production houses and dates from stars he can make good hits.   However, he has a long way to go to consolidate the humour and present in a big way.

The Hero is surely Rajpal and he steals the show for sure.   This is not the best of Rajpal but the usual Rajpal which made us laugh is there.  Given a full length role he makes us flex our facial muscles quite a number of time.   Ashish Chaudhary is ok in the sweet chocolate ideal decorative husband.  Neha as a challenging house wife was ok, where Amrita is limited to a small role and she did justice to it.   Anumpam Kher and Rati Agnihotri were ok where all others did an average job.

Music too was plain average where I could see the choreographer was trying to do the best out of the limited budget.  It is a Great effort by Ganesh Acharya.  Cinematography was ok.

Santhosh, without much happiness, Shanti, without much peace, Prem but with full of Prem, Khushi but full of Khusi…In a wider perspective, the writer might have thought of giving a message like live up to the name….however the writing failed to project or bring such serious thoughts in audience to limit the film to fall into the big list of plain average light entertainers.

For a new comer, Chadrakant Singh did a good job in making an entertaining film even though there are quite a good number of flows in the script.    It is a good movie to watch if you go to it without much expectation.  A light entertainer which discuss a thousand times told serious matter, marriage and relations.  However, the film never tried to get serious and with every unfolding reel.

If you are a person who looks for light entertainers and if you can accept Rajpal Yadav as the Hero and you don’t mind watching a family relation oriented comedy…the film worth a watch for sure.

My rating 2.5 stars

PS : The opening of the film at box office is really poor here, but response at the hall is different.  I wonder how the response at the hall can convert to box office counters, but that need a good number to begin with…which required some serious home work done before the release of the film itself.

PSPS: Santhosh & Shanti are names in the film and no reference to MS ids Poulose and the Reviewer.
