Ranchi is a panacea during summer and is an excellent place to visit during the summer. Situated at 2140 feet above sea level it serves both as a health and holiday resort.
The chief attractions are the following:
Tagore Hill - This is is situated 3-4 kms from the heart of the city. It is named after the Tagore family because a number of books were said to have been written atop this hill by Rabindranath Tagore. The Ramakrishna mission is also situated at the foothills of this hill.
Ranchi Lake - It is very close to the heart of the city and is an excellent place to relax. The lake has boating facilities too for those who want to have fun in its waters.
Amreshwar Dham - Named by Shankracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati, it is a temple complex housing the idols of Hanuman, Ram & Sita, Shiva and Lord Ganesha.
Dasam Falls - This is a waterfall nearly 40 km away (towards Jamshedpur) and it is a wonderful sight to see the Kanchi river waters fall from a height of nearly 144 feet.
Hundru Falls - This is a bigger water fall, with the Subernarekha waters falling from a height of 320 feet. This waterfall is situated nearly 45 kms from Ranchi.
Overall the trip to Ranchi is a wonderful experience and the much hyped law and order situation is more of a mental disposition than a reality.
SO go ahead and enjoy.
