Watch out for the generation awakening

I just now read two reviews on this movie. One gave it 5 stars while the other gave it 1 star. Both reviews were so well written that I thought it was art.

Let me try to tell you what I felt for this movie.

Isn’t it a common talk amongst us

’’iis desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta hai...the politicians have sucked the marrow out of the country’s life. You cannot do anything worthwhile in this country...All of feel that whatever the freedom fighters did in their time is a total waste...they might have gone to their execution with a smile on their lips but does that inspire us..no..we simply shrug off our shoulders and say ’’’’those were different circumstamces..that was a diferent era and what they did then has no meaning in modern india’’

This is where this movie strikes...the director begs to differ here..by means of this movie he wants to drive home the point that the youth today still have a goal...they can still do something to make the country a better place to live in .Sacrifices of the freedom fighters can still inspire us.Thay can still teach us how to make our country a better place to live in.

And the best part of the movie is that this movie is about transformation of cool guys into patriots and they still manage to be cool.Till the end.Its is not a lecture on freedom and patriot. The director gives his message in such a way that it hits u gently...It helps u rediscover urdicover urself like it helps the main characters of the movie. We are all patriots deep within us ..the movie just brings out those sentimnets. It answers many of the questions that we keep asking ourselves ..our peers. And you don’t need to be austere to be a patriot. You can be cool ..wear trendy clothes..speak hinglish...drink beer (maybe whisky too)...and yet be a patriot.

Maybe this is the definition of New Age Patriotism.

’’Sarfaroshi ki tamanna aab hamare dil mein hai

Dekhna hai zor kitna baajuye quatil mein hai.’’

this is basically a movie of a gang of cool guys who rediscover themselves...

It all begines with Sue wanting to make a movie on Indian revolutionaries and when th BBC refues to fund her she decides to do so on her own with help from her friend Soha ali khan.Due to lack of funds they end up auditioning DU students for the movie and here enters AAmir Khan and his gang who are super cool...initially they are cynical abt the whole thing yet they go for it after some persuasion and while doing the movie they rediscover latent qualities and emotions in them.

These guys are shown to be disillusioned with the state of afairs in the country so much so that they feel that nothing can be achieved in this country. They face problems of

communalism , one of them hates his super rich and least sensitive dad.Amir Khan aka DJ doesn’t want to leave the university coz he is afraid that he cannot stand on his own. The discussion that they have are refreshing and something that everyone of us can relate to coz we all have been in similar discussions too.The questions that they ask are the same ones whose answers we seek and its Madavan , the fighter pilot who answers them aptly when he says that we are all cynics...we do nothing abt the sorry affair of state in the country but we never forget to critize everything .If u indeed want the country to change u can give it your best shot.Join the defense sector or compete IAS and IPS and then try to change the country.

Watch out for the end when we have siddarth on the mike at the radio station answering queries from people all around the country. That is one scene that will stay in your minds when u leave the theatre. In fact he answers the same question that he asks in the first half on the movie. This is what the ’’generation awakens’’ is all about.

The best part of the movie is the comparison of the freedom fighters of yesterday with today’s youth. One is bound to love the similarity in the approach when present and past are mixed so efficiently. One scene from the present is followed from one scene from the pre independance days ansd so on and so forth.

The first half of the movie is cool and reminds u of DCH where u have a bunch of guys chilling out, be it drinking beer in new ways or riding dirt bikes on indian roads..The second half is powerpacked with new age patriotism. The end is suberb.

As for the acting Aamir Khan is at his best...but if I had my way I would say Sharman Joshi aka sukhi deserves accolades for his comic timing and his harnavi accent and his perrenial fear of dying a virgin.

Another actor who makes us sit up and takes notice is Siddarth a.k.a Karan. You can almost feel his feelings ..be it lack of care from a dad...or his convincing answers in the radio station.

Soha ali Khan is cool and this movie should give her a break through. She is sweet.

Allice Patton as Sue is as good as u can think of.She is the one who gets all the characters together and by means of her movie she helps them discover themselves.watch out for AAmir khan singing ’’Sue kar mere maan ko’’ for her...

All in all is this movie is as good as u get.It has the right ingredients in it.

I m sure u are gonna love this movie

so go out and just WATCH it.
