A for Apple

The first half of the movie was a real pleasure to watch. In fact it was so hilarious. After a day’s work it was a great stress reliever. People who have studied in Delhi are sure to find a shadow of their student life in the movie.

But the analogy drawn in the second half between the freedom struggle and India’s current fight against corruption right now is really no where. In fact the crew had to impose it on the audience in so many ways. Also showing the freedom fighters vis-a-vis the students who kills a politician to prove their point was also very imposing. In fact it had a negative connotation on the image of the freedom strugglers that we have imbedded in our souls.

My expectations were very high especially because till date I love watching Sarfarosh from the same producer.

In the movie it was clearly stated by DJ played by Amir that he is scared to step out of the campus as he won’t have any identity in the outside world.

On the other hand all the freedom strugglers were good scholars and had definite mission of their life from which drifted for the love of their mother land. They sacrificed their family and lives for the motherland.

It has been a habit of filmmakers to draw strange type of analogies like a cricket match vis-a-vis a war for independence. So long as it is a friction and doesn’t mentions anyone’s name in particular its entertainment. But not something like this. Its no doubt a well made movie. In fact the first half was really good. If they would have shown the second half of the movie as is, without the flash back scenes then it would have been great like Lagaan it would have been a motivating and at the same time entertaining.
