Color me saffron

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab humare dil main hai

Dekhna hai zor kitna bazoo-e-kaatil mein hai

During the times when India was governed by foreigners, the bazoo-e-katil was the British Empire. Unfortunately today the bazoo-e-kaatil are the people who are elected by us to govern this country.

Rang De Basanti means color me saffron. Saffron is the color of sacrifice.

RDB inspires you... it directs you to move towards a India that has honest leadership.

From Aamir Khan to Soha Ali Khan, everyone contributes positively to the story... everyone has a message for the youth. It’s the story of five men who live in the ’modern’ India. Four of them are not a least bit concerned about corruption (Aamir bribes the cops). All they want to do is have fun... scared to step out of this fun life. Not one of them is doing anything to make a difference. The fifth man has a lot of love for his country but cannot look at a person beyond the boundaries of religion.

Things change when a ’foreigner’ comes to India to shoot a film on the lives of the great patriots like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bismil... She needs actors for the roles and convinces these young people to play the characters. How this changes their thinking over the period of time given the circumstances has been captured grippingly in the second half of the movie.

There is a self-respecting spirit in every human being... sometimes it takes a lot of unfortunate series of events for one to realize that you should fight for your rights.

There is a Bhagat Singh inside each one of us... we had the fire in our hearts during British Raj. This fire is still there. Hopefully, this movie will stir a wave of patriotism in the youth of India as was brought out in the final scenes of the movie.

Long Live Patriotism... mohe rang de basanti.
