A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes later....and what’s the five minutes for ?U may ask ....it’s the time when you release that courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway!
Never been a keen of patriotic movies, less for those of bollywood(i’m not indian)and ignoring what I should expect, I have seen my self watching Rang De Basanti for the only reason I could see logic at that time...it’s an Aamir Khan flick. However, Rang De Basanti is the kind of movies that you go watch with a relaxed attitude and you end up wanting to make a revolution!
The story of the english girl who wants to make a film about the heroes of the freedom of india based on a diary of her grandfather, is the strange amalgam that it’s sometimes an outsider who may make us discover our own country, our own identity. She meets with a commun young indian group, enjoying a careless life, who belongs to different classes and religions, quit the image of the diverse India, but united by a strong friendship beyond any difference , sadly rarely seen in the bitter reallity....they share the same hopes and the same deceptions but they were open to take the ride inside history, inside their own selves.
Making the story with two perspectives, past and present, shows how history can repeat it self...it’s not a simple fight against the occupation, it’s a fight against the enemy within! we used to look for our enemies across boarders, but an enemy can set next to us, in fact he can be inside every one of us.This revelation couldn’t happened to our protagonists if a major fact, the dramatic death of one of them, did not occur...it would turn to be just another loss of a dear to the heart...we will cry him for a while, cherish his memory for sometime and then life must go on...No, not when politic shows in!Our yongsters couldn’t beleive how deep the corruption and the fakery, of the politicians , were...they will clean their side , anyway, and its not a big deal to dull the memory of a brave man in the rush... the rage and the anger were so that they needed to do something , they needed to take a revenge.I ignore if a radical violent act is the right answer(they killed the minister), but I understand one thing, it’s the only answer left when you broke hope inside human been!
Making such a film, without falling in the same old cliché of patriotism, takes a lot of courage and awarness...and for that we can’t thank the director enough!
The story would turn somehow fade if the caracters were not supported by a strong acting...it’s true that Aamir is like a full moon, impossible to miss, but the other actors were shining stars, impossible to miss too...in fact they completed each other to give us the whole picture: a full moon with shining stars in a bright sky in a hot summer night...and what a view....sipmly superb!
The music, by AR Rehman, added to the magic of the film a light note but yet a sensible one...i personnaly adore "khoon shaala", it moves you from the inside!
See when a movie is well done , it is so hard to explain its cons...it’s like saying to a beautiful woman she got a big nose...why? She is beautiful anyway with her nose.
To sum up, Rang De Basanti is a film who makes you think about yourself, your priorities in life , your willing to change things...and that needs courage because you cannot discover oceans unless you have the courage to loose sight of the shore!
All the indians should be proud of their country, because it’s a great country....great with its people and it’s not a few corrupted greedy ones who will change this fact!
Now, you may think that"she wants us to die for our country"...the truth is that I want you to die for GOD, I want to die for GOD! GOD who spreads the greatest love in our heart, the love of his creature, the love of the country he made for us ! you may be afraid but remember, courage is beeing scared to death but saddling up anyway!
PS: your comments are needed desperatly ! (a simple hi will make my day)
