I had seen this movie years ago at a screening at Epicentre, Gurgaon. The film had been screened at various places across India and the director had also been there for the screening. His main concern and rightly so was "This movie is perhaps too abstruse for the masses."
I had loved the movie, every scene was brilliantly shot and acting and direction was impeccable. In my opinion it was a perfect ode to Indias pioneer of oil painting- Raja Ravi Verma.
Today after winning critical acclaim from across the world, the movie has finally been released in India but reviewing the box office charts today I gleaned that it was not doing too well at the box office.
I have not seen it at the theaters now so I am not sure if it has been censored beyond comprehension or is it artistically too brilliant for mass appeal?
When would the masses and our censor board begin to appreciate art in its true sense!
