This one you have to try it to believe it!

Rangoli is a creative expression of art through the use of colour. Rangoli is also an expression of warm hospitality

The restaurant operates on the principle of daily visits by regular customers, and all Nariman Point is its customers, so everything is changed every day, including the rice

’ Wok’ as in a hemispherical frying-pan used in Oriental cooking. That by itself should give you an idea of what amazing things the Taj has done with that dreary old Rangoli at Vijaya Mehta’s NCPA at Nariman Point.

Given its unflinching commitment to restore and rejuvenate India’s handicraft heritage, and to promote new modes of creative expression, The Society Collection staff sift through hundreds of applications from all over India and some abroad, before choosing the 110 final entries that weave a comprehensive tapestry of India’s creativity. The products this year, span an incredible range that include designerwear, jewellery, carpets, terracotta pottery, Tanjore paintings, hand-painted linen, household linen, children’s clothes, paintings, knitwear, hand-embroidered saris, designer giftwraps, murals, pachikaam jewellery, leather bags, glasswork, stained glass, model trains, marble, leather jewellery, ceramicware, frames, wood carvings, murals and much more.

The Sidewok is a large restaurant that runs along a 50-foot long open kitchen, where you can watch, smell and, perhaps, taste the food prepared by a group of the youngest and smartest cooks in town.

They have all been trained by the Taj’s Hemant Oberoi, his latest and certainly most innovative venture yet. The place is young and bursting like a spring day, 10, 000 paper kites in the ceiling, 138 covers, constant movement of customers, waiters breaking into a song-and-dance act.

The entrance is from Marine Drive, the main Tata Theatre entrance, through the garden and into the restaurant. The restaurant is part of the kitchen and the kitchen part of the restaurant. The food is Pan Asian interactive cooking, which means Lebanese felafels with Thai lemon grass and ginger. And everything cooked on order, a minute .A lot of the food is served in the wok in which it is cooked, the wok placed on the table in a wrought iron stand, a little fire burning below to keep the food warm, one wok per diner.

Side Wok, the 3-month-old avatar of Rangoli at Nariman Point, Mumbai, has to it’s advantage, a beautiful location. The interiors of Side Wok were done by Lieber Cooper & Associates based in the U.S. who have specified every single detail, from the crockery to the napery, in a manual. Zesty yellows, reds and blues, 10, 000 colourful kites on the ceiling make for a very colourful ambience. A 50 ft long (longest in Asia) open interactive kitchen is the centre of attraction

Nested between upscale Rosedale and Forest Hill area, Rangoli is recognized for its unique dining experience and soul soothing ambience. Rangoli is all about innovative cooking , friendly service and grace for we strongly believe that Rangoli is and for the people and not just a place - with an open kitchen concept there are no secret’s kept.

THANKYOU.
