Ramu makes a comeback with Rann. After a series of mega-flops and sar-chatu movies Ramu has come up with some substance.
The movie has got an amazing cast and awesome plot. Besides that, the concept i.e media is completely fresh. No movies till now have been made over media politics, so it grabs eye-balls. Big B is grand as usual he gets into the skin and blood of the character. That’s why we call him the Legend. What’s come as a surprise package is the character ‘Jai’ played by Sudeep. He seems to be from South. He has a great screen presence and oozes attitude. He actually looks like he is Big B’s son as portrayed in the movie. He has got it all. The brooding look, the angry young man walla attitude and loads of style. Neetu Chandra is his item in the movie, well I can’t use a better word for her. All I can see her doing is wearing skimpy night-wears and humming around him like some bee. She isn’t looking like a fiancée but looks like some Tiger Wood babe, I don’t know why Ramu has this fetish for sluts…he always has one in all his movies. Whatever…
It’s a refreshing change to see Paresh Rawal play the villain after all his comic characters. He carries the role with élan and you almost forget that he made you laugh with this comic characters once. One weird thing, there is this guy who is apparently Paresh Rawal’s right hand in the movie. He doesn’t talk in the whole movie. But gives you those deadly ‘don’t mess with him’ expressions, whatever it goes well with the movie.
Ritesh is there in a small but important role. Something different from all this comic characters. And Gul goes un-noticed.
The movie is a treat to watch as it brings out the media circus rather terrifically.
