Weekends in Mumbai is full of line at hotels, and you may never want to go and eat inbetween crowded places full of crying kids, irritating teenagers eying your girl, waiters doing mistakes in food items ordered, dishes prepared in a hurry. I hate to spoil my weekend like this at a Restaurant. Malad West has hardly a few good places to dine n wine., considering the BPO crowd and soo many families who drag their noisy kiddos .
Thankfully, Rasoi stands out from the general crowd. Here is what I love about Rasoi: 1. Ambience - Generally dim lights, themed (festive days different), Comfortable Seats, Clean and Hygenic Tables n Dinner Ware, Soft music OR TV with live sports if in the season, Rarely but they have Guitar players and On-Demand Songs (atleast this was there till July 2008) 2. Food - Well, the main focus is here.. we go there to eat not to see ! ... Food is really well made, the paneer is sooo sooo soft and well made that it just melts in a bite.
I love the Corn Tikki Starters, Paneer Hyderabadi Sabzi, Paneer Pasanda stuff, Kulcha, Chole, Dal Makhani, Stuffed Kofta. Rest all is Experimental I guess it doesnt always taste the same. 3. Pan Store Outside - Well after dining, you will love to eat the PAN at the local PanWalla just outside the hotel.. Its really worth it! CONS: 1. Waiters/Service - Though they are really nice but waiters seem to be pretty amateur and unorganized sometimes. Once placed, an order can just get delayed like crazy unless you ask a waiter to get is ASAP.
- Pricing Considering the variety of food, Pricing is too high.. they hardly have a few real meal varieties. 3. More of Wine-n DINe and less of Dine Only - Well, its fine - dimmed lights etc. but then.. mostly you see people go there for Drinks and dinner is second part of it.. I guess thats why just a few varieties of food.
Also, sometimes lights are so less u can hardly see the food. Overall its not bad.. its worth going once.. its anytime better than going to a local joint and waiting for an hour till u get a crowded seat or shared seat ...
