For the ones who live to eat and love to eat !

I would begin my review by asking a few questions to all of us...

How often we end up in going to a plush restaurant, paying up few hundreds for the food-stuff that is costing much and worth little and tastes horrible ?

How often we go to a multi-speciality Restaurant and find a handful of cashewnut inside the Schezwan Noodles ?

How often we crib for paying high prices for an item best described as the sabzi wrapped in a chewy chapati ? I’m refering here to Frankie.

Ultimately, how often we feel like pet bhi bhar gaya, man bhi bhar gaya, dil bhi bhar gaya and the pocket is not cut severely too ?

An ardent foodie, dont mind coughing up money on the food, but what he looks for is the ultimate food nirvana, Pet bharna chahiye aur uske sath man bhi shant hona chahiye !

Speaking about the Thalis, I’ve eaten four kind of thalis in my life namely

  1. Maharashtrian Thali

  2. Gujrathi n Rajasthani Thali

  3. Punjabi Thali

  4. South Indian Thali

I’m talking here about Gujrathi and Rajasthani Thali... The Restaurants serving these kind of thalis are omnipresent in Mumbai and mushrooming all over where the gujju and marwadi bhai stays in heaps !

Rasoi

---------------------

Situated bang opposite Mulund Railway Station (West) in Mumbai, Rasoi has been the favorite stop of all the thali lovers for years now.

A smallish eatery that could accomodate atleast 40 people at one time is always in demand for mainly three things i.e. Location, Food quality and VFM !

Location : As mentioned earlier, this place is conveniently located opposite Mulund railway station. For the people travelling from Western suburbs, the bus stop for the buses going to Andheri, Bandra and Santacruz area is stone’s throw away.

Food and food quality : When I’m in a mindset to have a Gujrathi thali, I expect a whole lot of stuff getting poured continuously in my thali coupled with excellent food quality. This is the one good thing that I always admit about Gujjus is that they never compromise on their food habits anywhere on the earth and thats why u find Patel’s in USA, Australia and Kenya too eating dhokla !

The usual thali in Rasoi contains a whole lot of stuff ! Bas ek nazara of a thali stuffed with all the food items calms my man ki bhook ! Continuous supply of garama-garam fulkas (Small rotis made up of wheat floor), 3 types of sabzis in gujju preparation, dal, kadhi constitute the bowls placed in the thali. For the space left, we have garnishings like salad, farsaan items, chutneys...promptly supported by buttermilk ! The sweet is complimentary on Week days.

The Unlimitedoption of having the food amazes me always.... The staff up there keeps u serving the garama-garam food items without u asking for it.... This is what I call mehman-nawazee !

The Restaurant serves special items depending on the day of the week...Saturday and Sundays add some sweet dishes to the menus...and believe me about the quality of the food they serve !

For years together, I’m frequent patron of Rasoi because of its unmatched superb quality !

VFM ..Value for money : A thali of same description would cost anywhere between Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 in Mumbai...But this place being close to station concentrates on the number of people served rather than serving a few people !

To put it in precise terms, Rasoi charges exactly Rs. 60 for unlimited thali providing me total value for money experience !

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a food lover who live to eat and love to eat, Believe me Visit Rasoi someday
