Let me make it clear from the word go, that I am NOT AT ALL a fan of neither Salman Khan nor of slapstick comedies, but after watching in cinema, this movie compelled me to write this review, as I was thoroughly entertained by a hindi film after a long time.
I hated all smartly packaged & cleverly marketed movies that were infect nothing but bigtime boring dragged dull CRAPS, be it om shanti om, welcome, Ghajini, Singh is king or even a Dabangg.
But Ready is genuinely a fully paisa-vasool entertainer...After PYAR TO HONA HEE THAA (kajol/ajay 1998) and NO-ENTRY this is the ONLY watchable and thoroughly likable movie from Anees Bazmi.. his other directorials were total crap & were piece of utter boredom & junk be it welcome, no problem, singh is king and Thank you..all were total rubbish regardless of their individual box office verdict.
Readys trump card is its flawless direction, superb comedy, crisp screenplay and for sallus fans offcourse salman khan...I wish he could be more serious for his roles & choice of movies in his late 90s and early 2000s phase as he is now...but anyways its never too late..he is after all a super-duper star of our country.
Story as you know is not of much importance as far as generation of the film is concerned, it is based on events and incidents that will make u laugh uncontrollably throughout the whole movie, especially during the second half...first half is also enjoyable but 2nd one is just too "rib-ticklish".
The basic concept is somewhat similar to Anees Bazmis another directorial the so called blockbuster (but pathetic as a movie) WELCOME i.e. girl belongs to a Dons/ghundas family, but Ready is 10 times more entertaining & interesting then that piece of crap Welcome, and is GENUINELY funny.
Salmans making fun of himself by giving the names of the two bad villains in this movie to two of his bad movies Veer and Yuvraaj is simply awesome ;)
Songs are already a hit and coupled with great and apt picturization, they are a treat to watch... hum ko pyar huwa is soothing while dhinka chika and character dheela will make u dance.
This is good that the director has not wasted the ORIGINALLY shooted DHINKA CHIKA (this song was shooted entirely again with new picturization as Salman was not satisfied with the first one as he thought that the filming has not done justice to such energetic foot-tapping song..and he was quite right as the original shoot of the song is somewhat dull and non-appealing...great decision by Salman) and put the originally shooted Dhinka Chika with the ending rolling credits, while added the later entirely re-shooted Dhinka chika in the movie that does complete justice with this upbeat number.
Post Wanted, Salman looks so much at ease by now and is very very comfortable in his every movie..it seems he is not taking his roles & career for granted now and is not signing any and all types of movies just for the sake of friends & family, that obviously is a wise change.
The only thing he needs to work on is his face, as from the sagging shape of his cheeks and sidelines of lips/jaws he looks old especially in closeups....Botox is a great technology that will make you look younger, then WHY NOT taking advantage of it ??? especially if one is in showbiz where the basic sale able thing is ones face...this advice is for Aamir and Shahrukh too as they also look quite old now playing young characters... what is the harm in using new technique that is exclusively meant for your profession ?
Asin looks really pretty and acted very well... like Salman, she also needs to work upon only one thing and that is to mellow -down a bit, as at times she has the tendency to fall trap into a bit of over-acting UN-consciously...she has the tendency to be over-ambitious in front of the camera at times, and as result, her over-ambitious body-language (perhaps to act just PERFECTLY) gives a feel of a bit of over-acting coupled with somewhat of woodenness, that can easily be toned-down ...she needs to under-play her characters a bit...but its not too much to worry about, on the whole she is a good addition to Bollywood.
Cinematography is excellent. apart from the entire song "hum ko pyar huwa" that despite of great locations, is kind of "dull- looking" for some reason...otherwise the whole films feel is rich and colorful.... all character-actors acted well and contributed in the final result of the movie, especially Paresh Rawal and Asins two mamaas in the movie.
All guest appearances are nice..it is surprising to see Sunjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Arbaz Khan, Kangna Ranaut & Zareen Khan all together in one frame.
Go with reasonable expectations... do NOT expect another ANDAZ APNA APNA, watch with open-and-non-critical mind, and chances are that youll really like this light entertainer.
