This is an amazing utility. It limits itself to playing only audio unlike its main rival Windows Media Player. As far as audio is concerned it has the same features as those of WMP. Because it specialises in Audio, after hearing a 100 hours of music on both of these utilities you will figure out that real juke box is ever so slightly better than WMP while playing MP3’s of bitrates of upto 128Kbs.
Anything above 128Kbs means that WMP is the best. It supports all formats and the one that it does not, it prompts you and then at your wish downloads the necessary plugin from the central directory at Real automatically. There are fewer visualisations here but all of them are really good. In particular I enjoy and am falling in love with Annabella the sheep. She dances and does the tango when your songs are playing. All features are excellent.
Real displays some ads of third part products related to the audio from time to time. AND if you are one of those who do not read the EULA end user’s licence agreement too bad because Real reserves the right to electronically track all your doings or misdoings on the net and create a demographic profile of you. It also exhorts you to duty the Real Jukebox Plus which they say has better features than this. But this piece in itself is an excellent utility. It gives an excellent output. It can rip CDs to form its own unique RMX format files which is less better than WMA in quality but can be excellently played by Real Jukebox.
It has got good media search facilities which can scan your PC for media files. It also has line in recording facility which can record music from cassette players maintaining the quality. What’s more it can even rip CD’s into MP3 format. It can also covert analog songs i.e played from a cassete player to MP3. Overall I would rank it ALONGSIDE WMP and say that you should have them both for they are good.
